JOYFUL ROOTS

A GROWING COMMUNITY

This is our agriculture and gardening project, promoting food sovereignty and following Afroecoligical and permaculture principles. We're working to:

- build more resilient local and natural food systems, - green urban spaces and

- increase access to land/farming opportunities for racialised and underserved communities.

The Joyful Roots programme includes a weekly veg bag scheme supplying 50+ families with local and culturally relevant fresh, organic produce. Plus, we are developing Hastings first sky farm, a community kitchen and a composting scheme for our members.

HATTONS YARD

Community Space

We're working hard to transform a long-term empty warehouse into a cultural hub and community garden in Central St Leonards.

As strong advocates for community-led change, we understand that communities have a wealth of expertise at their fingertips, so we're transforming the neglected building into a community asset with a dedicated storage area.

Our aim is to host pop-ups, events and markets to support inclusive economic and social development. We'll keep you posted about progress, but we'd love to hear from any community-minded folk who are interested in working with us.

SMALL ACTS Community Hub &

STIR IT UP! Community Kitchen

The second of our three urban regeneration / community / healing spaces sees the transformation of a former high street betting shop into a community kitchen and hub. Styled like a 1970's West Indian home, this will be an immersive and welcoming safe space for cultural groups and individuals to support better community development.

HIGHER GROUND SKY FARM

Our urban greening, resilient localised food systems, regeneration and wellbeing plans continue with the development of our third healing space - Hastings very first sky farm.

Poverty breeds creativity! With minimal funding, we're repurposing found and/or donated items to turn a vacant rooftop car park into an organic farm, orchard and flower garden. Working alongside creative/social enterprises and charitable/community/education organisations, we hope to create accessible and inclusive opportunities, which address and tackle issues linked to UN Global Goals: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 15.

SOW GOOD

Community / School Gardens Project

We believe that everyone deserves to have access to fresh, culturally relevant produce and growing opportunities, so we're co-developing a community & school gardens initiative, repurposing vacant land and bringing people together to grow food for themselves and their neighbours.
